Assistant Accountant

Ignite is helping one of our clients source an Assistant Accountant for an initial 6 months, with the potential for extensions for another 3-6 months beyond this initial term.  The position is backfilling another employee, and is available immediately.  A competitive hourly rate is available.
 
This organisation is based south of Perth in Bentley - close to public transport, with free on-site parking, offering modern facilities for its employees and contractors.

Reporting to the Financial Accounting Manager, you will provide accounting services to the business.  You’ll update the general ledger and perform reconciliations, oversee the timely capitalisation of Projects and Work-In-Progress reporting and monitoring.  You’ll also assist in the preparation of financial statements, reporting and external audit files.

Some of your other duties would include:
  • Update and maintain accounting ledgers and perform end of month general ledger closure, including accruals and journals.
  • Ensure the integrity of the financial data through the identification, implementation and effective maintenance of appropriate financial controls, including the reconciliation of key accounts.
  • Preparation of quarterly financial reports and assist in the preparation of corporate financial statements and management accounts, including monthly cash flow statements.
  • Assist in the preparation of audit information and in the coordination of the external audit process.
  • Oversee the capitalisation of completed projects, work-in-progress reporting. Preparation of profitability reports for customer funded projects.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures.
We are seeking a candidate with the following skills and experience:
  • A degree qualification in accounting, finance, commerce or equivalent or progress towards such qualification.
  • Experience in the preparation of financial reports and analysis
  • Experience in the preparation of cash flow Statement.
  • Knowledge of International and Australian Accounting Standards and accounting policies.
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning Systems (Ellipse), is highly regarded.
  • Experience with Business Intelligence Tools (QlikView, Microsoft Reporting Services, Cognos) is highly regarded but not essential
