Assistant Finance Business Partner

Ignite is seeking an Assistant Finance Business Partner to support and assist our client - a major National Government Department and Scheme which partners in the Task-Force delivery of high performing, high integrity, trusted national project dealings.

The Assistant Finance Business Partner is accountable under broad direction to undertake complex financial management activities. They will work independently having some authority and discretion to investigate information from diverse sources and explore innovative approaches to support longer-term business objectives. This role requires initiative and experience to research, analyse, plan, review and adjust priorities and work activities to meet business outcomes. The successful applicant will undertake objective, systematic analysis and draw accurate conclusions based on evidence providing detailed technical, professional and procedural advice in relation to complex financial management activities.

Key responsibilities:

  • Contribute to supporting the financial objectives of business areas through assistance with internal budget preparation, monitoring and reporting;
  • Contribute and conduct analysis across financial and performance metrics to drive improved performance, accountability and to identify workforce and business challenges as they arise within business areas;
  • Promoting compliance with financial management frameworks through provision of advice on Agency and government financial matters;
  • Accountable for developing work plans for short-term tasks, managing workflow and contributing to strategic planning for longer-term initiatives that support the delivery of the Finance Business Partnering function.
Must have:

  • CA or CPA qualified;
  • 5+ years post-qualification experience;
  • Understanding and knowledge of disability and its impact on individuals;
  • Experience with supporting people with a disability to maximise participation in community;
  • Proficiency with MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Has experience in building relationships both with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Able to engage in negotiation if dealing with external providers;
  • Ability to respond to and prioritise competing and often urgent requests in a calm and efficient manner while also maintaining high work standards and accuracy;
  • Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information;
  • Ability to synthesise and analyse information and make decisions.
