Assistant Finance Business Partner - APS6

The Assistant Finance Business Partner is an APS6 position that is based in Geelong. Sitting in the Finance and Corporate Services division of this federal government organisation, we are seeking a proactive and dynamic individual for a fixed-term contract until the end of this year, with possible extension.  This is an autonomous role where you will have some authority and discretion to investigate information from diverse sources and explore innovative approaches to support longer-term business objectives. 

About You

  • Experience in a similar role, preferably within the government sector
  • CA/CPA qualified & relevant tertiary qualifications
  • Highly skilled in financial and budget management practices
  • Ability to operative effectively in a complex financial management environment while working with limited direction
  • Strong leadership skills, both from a people and stakeholder management perspective
  • Self-starter, with a high degree of initiative
  • Outstanding research and analytical skills
  • Ability to analyst and apply relevant legislation

Key Responsibilities

  • Assistance with internal budget preparation, monitoring and reporting in accordance 
  • Contribute and conduct analysis across financial and performance metrics to drive improved performanc and accountability
  • Identify workforce and business challenges from a financial perspective as they arise within business areas
  • Promoting compliance with financial management frameworks 
  • Training and mentoring of junior team members
  • Developing workplans for short-term tasks and managing workflow accordingly
  • Providing detailed technical, procedural and professional advice in relation to complex financial management activities
Please note Australian Citizenship/Permanent Residency is required for this role and security/background checks will be conducted prior to employment. This is contract position starting late May until late December 2019 and the location is in Geelong.
