Community Engagement Officer

Ignite is seeking a Community Engagement Officer to support and assist our client - a major National Government Department and Scheme which partners in the Task-Force delivery of high performing, high integrity, trusted national project dealings.

The Community Engagement Officer will support the leadership team to deliver highly complex outcomes, projects and work programs that have strategic, political and operational significance to the client.

Additionally, you will work closely with the community and mainstream stakeholders.


Key responsibilities:
  • Supporting to operationalise a targete3d engagement strategy which is aligned to the broader client engagement strategy
  • Represent the client at external forums and events in a professional and impartial manner
  • Providing information and guidance to people with disability, participants and the wider community
  • Deliver clear, concise and effective messaging to people with disability, their families and carers – as well as other community and mainstream stakeholders
  • This role may include intrastate and interstate travel

 Must have:

  • Positive contemporary attitudes to people with disability
  • Competency with IT systems
  • Adaptable communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to engage in negotiation if dealing with external providers
  • Capability to work closely with participants and their carers
  • Judgement and decision making within delegated limits in relation to accountability of funds and interactions with individuals and communities

Desirable:

It is highly desirable that applicants have an understanding or lived experience in the field of disability.
