Engineering Specialist - Aviation Industry

Our Client is looking for two (2) entry level Systems Engineers to contribute to systems lifecycle management for a variety of high reliability systems Air Traffic Management and Aeronautical Information Systems.

You will participate and contribute to the functional and performance requirements and technical engineering activities within projects delivering, new and state of the art systems for the provision and support of Air Traffic Control Services.

The Systems Engineer will also contribute to managing the technical performance and monitoring of operational systems, ensuring systems meet agreed performance requirements, specifying and realising improvements and efficiencies where appropriate.

This includes:
  • Perform system management, maintenance, performance monitoring, specifying, reporting and analysis throughout the system life-cycle.
  • Apply Systems Engineering and specialist expertise in the areas of concept development, planning, design, technical reviews, verification and validation, deployment, software assurance, acquisition and implementation of new systems and upgrades to existing systems.
Qualifications and Experience
 Essential: A degree in Engineering or Information Technology from an Australian tertiary institution or certified equivalent qualification (for overseas qualifications)
 Essential: Satisfy the eligibility requirements for registration as a Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) with Engineers Australia.
 Essential: A sound understanding of and demonstrated experience applying Systems Engineering practices and processes
 Essential: Extensive experience in the design, development, testing and implementation of robust and reliable software systems. This includes the over-arching aspects of quality assurance, configuration management and deployment
 Essential: Demonstrated experience in stakeholder and vendor relationships
 Essential: Demonstrated ability to take ownership of tasks and work as a member of a dynamic team, including ability to work under direction to achieve positive outcomes
 Essential: Experience in providing systems and software maintenance and support including investigation, management and resolution of complex defects affecting large scale distributed systems
 Essential: Strong communication and documentation skills with experience in preparing and reviewing technical documents including: requirements specifications, design and test documentation and technical instructions.

 Highly Desirable:
Experience and demonstrated ability in designing, maintaining and supporting IT systems, in particular:
o Real-time systems;
o Distributed and Internet technologies; and
o Databases
 Highly Desirable:
Understanding of Information Security Manual (ISM) and demonstrated experience in adhering to ISM principles and applying ISM controls
 Desirable:
Understanding of DO-278A guidelines, software assurance levels and relevant processes and artefacts
