Finance Manager

Our client is an “High Net worth family office” based in Sydney whose business was founded by and still retains the active CEO role, in a highly successful multi-billion-dollar business that he founded. The family office has a diversified portfolio of both listed (equities) and private investments (property) with a focus on a certain asset class. You will be a sounding board for family members and responsible for risk management, tax, accounting and compliance for multiple entities including companies, trusts and SMSFs as well as various individuals.
 
 
 
Reporting to the Group CFO and the family, they are looking to hire a Financial Controller who will have full responsibility for the management of the family’s finance team. You will work alongside the founder, the family members and his executive team providing counsel, reporting and compliance on all family financial aspects. This opportunity should appeal to a highly commercial, well-rounded individual, who has experience in working in a family office / HNW environment and ideally coming from a tax / accounting background focussed on individuals. Ideally coming from a Big 4 background, private clients, U/HNW experience, you will also have a deep understanding in financial & management reporting, particularly in the areas of personal taxation. You should feel equally comfortable working on high-level strategic issues relating to the equity markets and the tax implications thereof.
 
 
 
Your key responsibilities are:
 
  • Ensuring robust financial management of investments always, providing sound advice to the founder, the family members and also operational support to portfolio businesses ranging from trusts through to a charitable foundation
  • Management of the year end audit, financial statement preparation and tax compliance/reporting matters
  • Preparation of weekly management reporting including actuals and forecasts
  • Monitoring and management cash flow
  • Responsible for banking relationships and interaction with investment advisors
  • Supervision of a team member

 
Attributes and Experience;
 
  • CA/CPA qualified
  • Understanding of superfunds and the rules that govern them
  • Understanding of use of trusts and companies in family groups
  • Ability to actively manage multiple stakeholders, family members and their requirements
  • Tax experience (companies, trusts, superfunds, charity foundation)
  • Experience within a High Net Wealth Family Office highly regarded
  • Highly motivated and resilient
  • Excellent communication skills
