Leading Senior Investigator - Fraud

Proven experience in fraud and compliance? Looking for a challenging, autonomous role where you can train and mentor other investigators? We are seeking a Leading Senior Investigator (APS6) to provide assistance to a team of Fraud Investigators within a Federal Government organisation. This is a twelve month contract starting late April, with the view to extend for a further twelve months. The role is located in Melbourne, with occasional interstate travel required.

About the Role:
  • Mentoring, advising and coaching less experienced fraud investigators
  • Undertaking and managing investigations of a complex and sensitive nature in accordance with commonwealth frameworks and Australian Government Investigation Standards
  • Developing investigation plans, evidence matrixes, complex witness statements, briefs of evidence and assisting in the execution of search warrants
  • Analysing and identifying fraud trends to support case selection opportunities
  • Analysing information for potential fraud cases and include in relevant reports
  • Identify better practice for tools, methodologies and processes for undertaking fraud investigaitons
  • Managing complex relationships and highly sensitive cases and issues, including establishing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders
  • Providing evidence in criminal and civil court
  • Contributing to overall senior management reporting, budget reviews, validity and compliance of the fraud investigation function
About You

  • Previous experience in fraud investigations or a related field, preferrably within the government sector
  • Proven experience working in a legislated and regulatory/compliance-focused environment
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, including strong negotiation and relationship management skills
  • Team player with the ability to adapt quickly in a dynamic, changing environment
  • Strong coaching and mentoring skills
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and efficiency while working under pressure
  • Proven history of managing confidential and sensitive information & situations
  • Ability to manage competing deadlines
  • Current NV1 security clearance, or the ability to obtain
