Policy Officer

Our client is seeking a Policy Advisor to lead the development of innovative, evidence-based policy positions and manage nation-leading energy projects, programs and policies.

Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
  • Lead the development of innovative, evidence-based policy positions on emerging energy policy/economic/technical/regulatory issues
  • Manage high-value, nation-leading energy projects, programs and policies
  • Prepare briefings, submissions, contracts, correspondence and replies to Parliamentary Questions
  • Communicate, liaise with relevant stakeholder groups
  • Support the emergency management processes and activities
  • Assist with a range of business unit planning, reporting, administration and governance activities and other duties as requested and required
  • Managing and mentoring of junior officers may be required
  • Contribute to a high-performing, high-morale work unit, including supporting the work of others in the team as required
To be considered you must possess the following skills and experience:
  • Demonstrated ability to shape strategic thinking through highly developed policy development skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve results, including under pressure, and manage programs, budgets and risk.
  • Experience in the government, energy, technology or commercial sectors.
  • Tertiary qualifications in economics, engineering, public policy, physical or social sciences, or similar, are highly desirable. While familiarity with or previous experience in energy markets and policy would be desirable, it is not essential.
