Ignite has been a preferred recruitment provider to the Australian Taxation Office, (ATO) for more than 10 years. During COVID-19, the ATO needed to move quickly to design, deliver and manage the JobKeeper program to support the Australian community. ATO’s ‘Smarter Data’ mobilised a multi-disciplinary team to focus on the data and analytics program underpinning JobKeeper. This included working with large volumes of data, building analytical models, enabling integrity measures, and generating reporting insights.
Within the scope of the JobKeeper program, the ATO approached their twenty-three preferred suppliers, to source an additional ten contractors, with strong backgrounds in data and analytics.
The Challenge:
• Short timeframe (10 days) while competing with twenty-three other recruiters
• We sourced candidates across Australia for roles in different
• There was a shortage of high calibre candidates matching the ATO’s brief available in the market
• The roles required a minimum baseline clearance
Approach:
Ignite’s Account Manager worked closely with our National Resourcing Team to identify, source, assess and qualify appropriate candidates. The process included:
• Identifying referral candidates within the ATO
• Creating a search on Ignite’s Bullhorn database for suitably qualified candidates
• Creating a search on Seek Talent Search and LinkedIn and advertising the role IGNITE’s website, Seek and LinkedIn
• Contacting candidates that matched the ATO’s requirements including immediate availability, skill sets, qualifications, security clearance, and location
• Discussing the role with each candidate, explaining the ATO’s detailed requirements
• Suitably assessed candidates interviewed online (during the COVID-19 restrictions) and were qualified on the above and cultural fit
• Ignite obtained all relevant compliance information from the candidates, including right to work, identification, right to represent and security clearance information
• Ignite completed thorough reference checks, including relevant questions added by the ATO client contact
• The Ignite Account Manager produced a shortlist of ten candidates, with complete candidate profiles, with attached resumes and detailed interview notes
• Eight candidates interviewed with the ATO. Six candidates were offered roles by the ATO. Four candidates accepted roles and commenced with the ATO in ACT, NSW, South Australia, and Queensland.
• Ignite’s Account Manager commenced the Contractor Care Plan, which has included regular phone calls to both the contractors and the ATO managers
Outcome
Ignite filled 40% of the ten roles, competing against twenty-three other preferred suppliers.
The Ignite Account Manager demonstrated their agility and understanding of the ATO’s requirements in COVID-19. They delivered an important level of service for the ATO, ensuring they could meet their JobKeeper obligations. Our contractors completed their eight-month engagement, with three contractors accepting 6-month extensions (with the potential opportunity for further extensions).
