APS6 Senior Branch Operations Officer

The Markets, Provider and Sector Development (MPSD) group within this government agency, is responsible for service provider relationships. This includes delivery of programs of work to enhance the provider and participant experience.
 
The MPSD Group supports the development of a vibrant marketplace by:
  • Undertaking activities to accelerate the market supply responses;
  • Communicating and engaging with existing and potential new providers, and understanding the barriers they face entering and operating in this space;
  • Identifying and managing short-term market risks;
  • Empowering participants to be informed and active consumers; and
  • Establishing processes, capability and systems to enable its role in market stewardship.
 
This role will sit in the Provider Operations and Performance Branch within the MPSD Group. As the Senior Branch Operations Officer, you will assist the Assistant Director, Branch Operations to ensure delivery of the Branch’s accountabilities. 
 
Working collaboratively across the branch, the Senior Branch Operations Officer will possess or quickly acquire:
  • A sound understanding of the aims and functions across the Branch
  • Strong engagement skills and the ability to negotiate and problem solve
  • Good oral and written skills and the ability to develop executive reports or communication materials for a diverse audience
  • Project management, research and analytical skills
  • The capacity to assist the Branch to meet deadlines and work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
 
Duties
As the Senior Operations Officer you will:
  • Undertake research and investigations under the direction of the Assistant Director, Branch Operations
  • Assist to prepare executive correspondence, briefs, reports and advice in a timely and accurate manner
  • Support consistency in Branch replies to executive correspondence and briefing material and create efficiencies in processes when responding to short timeframes
  • Assist in reviewing the Branch budget
  • Support the preparation of a variety of communications materials and resources relevant to the Branch’s program of work, including talking points, PowerPoint slide decks and emails
  • Facilitate the provision of messages and support to your colleagues within the Branch to assist with the timely flow of documents for clearance
  • Assist in coordinating the end-to-end life-cycle of parliamentary document records across the Branch using the prescribed processes and procedures such as matters relating to Submissions, Questions on Notice, Senate Estimate and Joint Standing Committees
  • Assist the management of external contractors or consultants engaged to support the Branch’s program of work
  • Be highly flexible and employ an adaptable approach to work within a context of a newly forming and changing body of work
  • Manage competing priorities while maintaining high work standards and accuracy
  • Promote workplace practices consistent with the Agency’s policies and in accordance with APS values and behaviours.

  • Ability to respond to and prioritise competing and often urgent requests in a calm and efficient manner while also maintaining high work standards and accuracy.
  • Experience in professional writing and/or program reporting is desirable.
 
Entry Level checks will be required for all successful candidates and dependent on the role the appropriate working with children and/or vulnerable people checks may need to be undertaken as per State Legislation.
