Assistant Director - Disability Inclusion

To increase the social and economic participation of people with disability is a major objective of our client, a major government agency in Geelong. Their broad ranging Information, Linkages and Capacity Building (ILC) program will make an important contribution to achieving this goal.

As the Assistant Director of the ILC Program you will play a major role in guiding, implementing and delivering this $398M program.

Your duties will involve:   

  • Supporting the design and delivery of commissioning for each program including maintaining a strong relationship with the Department of Social Services, the state and territory governments, and organisations receiving funding
  • Supporting the full grant making life-cycle with particular focus on finalising all selection processes and the signing of all grant agreements
  • Supporting the development of long-term strategic planning for the commissioning of programs
  • Supporting the efficient commissioning and delivery of all programs through managing resources and risk appropriately.
  • Providing high quality support for all Ministerial, Board and Executive briefings for ILC Branch - these will be both regular and of an ad hoc nature to bodies such as the Executive Leadership Team, the Independent Advisory Council and the Ministers.
  • Representing the Branch on internal working groups and the Agency in meetings and negotiations with other government and non-government agencies.

What you require:

  • Proven experience in grant administration at either state of federal government level.
  • Experience in managing a team involved in commissioning, program management or strategy and performance management within a legislated environment.
  • Analytical skills to draw on research, evidence and performance reports to influence improved service delivery.
  • Provide strategic direction to work area, including developing strategies and priorities and monitor work flow and performance.
  • Experience in drafting executive level communications.
