Business Analyst - HR Payroll/Time & Attendance

We are looking for a driven and experienced Business Analyst for our client - a well-established, multinational company that works across a range of different sectors. They are a leading provider of systems, products and services in the defence, security, and civil markets within Australia and throughout the world.

The Business Analyst will report to the Program Delivery Manager and work within HR as well as across business domains and other support functions and will be responsible for conducting current state analysis of HR processes and identify gaps in processes and systems through application of appropriate techniques.

It is a contract job for 3 months to start with and with a view for an extension until end of next year(December 2023). Subsequently, it has potential to go permanent.

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Understand the overall approach to Business Analysis over the course of initiative including a Business Analysis Plan, organisation Structures, HR Processes Framework, definition of deliverables by Program Delivery Manager etc.
  • Conduct in-depth Requirements Elicitation and collaborate for consensus on requirements amongst cross-functional teams
  • Maintain and update Requirements Traceability Matrix over the course of project
  • Clearly define process and system gaps based on current state analysis, stakeholder requirements and industry best practices
  • Identify process gaps and liaise with business owners to address the gaps using process re-engineering. Process re-engineering may include but not limited to identifying new activities, processes, new working relationships, system updates/new solutions etc.
  • Define high-level options where systems need to be updated and liaise with HR Systems team for further development. Where the system updates are to be implemented by an external vendor, translate business requirements into functional requirements for successful implementation.
  • Liaise with Program Manager and Senior Solution Architect to define consolidated To-Be processes and To-Be system requirements/change requests
  • Liaise with Program Manager and Change Manager to define the change plan
  • Report accurate and timely progress updates on all deliverables to the Program Delivery Manager
  • Communicate appropriate information to all relevant stakeholders during the course of the project
  • Communicate the deliverables state to the business users
  • Conduct solution walkthroughs (of prototype) and review sessions with relevant stakeholders and ensure process and system requirements scoped in the planning stage are met

Qualification and Essential Experience:

  • Qualifications and or experience in Business Analyst methodology (BABOK qualification would be viewed favourably)
  • Undergraduate Degree
  • 8-10 years’ experience in HR or other Transformation Projects / Programs
  • 5-6 years’ experience in Technology and Process Improvement projects
  • 4-5 years’ experience in Payroll, Time & Attendance and HRIS implementation projects
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent listening and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyse and research systems issues and products is required
  • Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language
  • Highly self-motivated and self-directed
  • Keen attention to detail
