Business Development Manager NSW | ACT | QLD

In conjunction with the National Business Development Manager this role requires the incumbent to operate both strategically and operationally as they design, manage and lead the execution of relevant state business plans. This role primarily focuses on overall business growth, retention and engagement of Members through building and maintaining relationships with existing Members and key internal and external stakeholders.

To different extents in each state, this role encompasses leadership responsibility for direct reports and is required to facilitate the day to day direction, mentorship and coaching of others to achieve the desired outcomes aligned to the strategy.

Role Responsibilities
  • Develop strong industry and product knowledge
  • Build and maintain relationships with existing Members, potential Members and key stakeholders such as medical colleges and key industry influencers
  • Execution of both state & national sales, retention and segment sponsorship plans
  • Develop and ensure successful execution of the national and state business plan/s and strategy including oversight and management of state budget/s
  • Provide input in the form of market intelligence and competitor information
  • Strategically target and leverage commercial opportunities that are beneficial to the business
  • Attend events, meetings, doctor practice visits, functions and conferences as necessary to support acquisition, retention and engagement objectives aligned to the strategy
  • Presentations and representation on behalf of the organisation
  • People management.

Qualifications
  • Tertiary qualifications in commerce, business or a related discipline
  • Proven background in business development, encompassing strategic planning and execution
  • 5+ years in a similar role
  • Strong understanding of the Medical Indemnity Industry or a highly regulated industry is essential
  • Tier 2 qualified
  • Familiarisation with Member based or Association style organisations
  • Previous experience in a similar level role.
 
A significant amount of travel both within and interstate will be required as this role will be responsible for both retention of existing members and acquisition of new business in QLD, NSW & ACT.  Demographics of these states presents a large proportion of opportunities for new business and growth for future success.  Subsequently these states are also accountable for approx. 50% of new business targets.

This role also has full responsibility for the people management of 4 staff – 2 in Sydney and 2 in QLD managed remotely – including all personnel and operational management.
