What you will be doing
 
This exceptional opportunity will see you develop categories and product ranges to meet consumer needs and deliver commercial goals.  This is a fast paced and exciting role where you will work with a Commercially focused, high energy, driven and forward thinking team. To succeed within this role you will:
  • Work closely with internal teams to develop blueprints and visual merchandising solutions
  • Aim to understand overall customer needs, develop and manage category strategies and sourcing events to reduce total costs
  • Build joint business plans and strategic partnerships with vendors
  • Develop, implement and manage vendor performance metrics, documents and reporting as part of a Supplier Relationship Management plan.
  • Understand the implications of pricing strategy and its impact on consumers
  • Use category analysis to asses performance to obtain company KPIs and increase sales
  • Challenge the status quo to improve and identify opportunities to improve store layouts and drive sales
  • Conduct market analysis to drive category strategies
  • Lead and drive the development of category plans in conjunction with key stakeholders
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of all category influencers and become the business- wide category subject matter expert.
 
What you must have to apply for this role:
 
  • Minimum 5+ years' experience in similar category role within an FMCG or Retail environment;
  • A successful track record in managing and expanding a consumer category attaining sales and profitability targets
  • Sharp analytical skills and a strong financial acumen to manage a P&L
  • Impressive negotiation capacity and excellent communication skills; 
  • Strong understanding of contemporary consumer marketing, retail trends and opportunities;
  • An excellent working knowledge of category management processes, systems and tools.
