Chef Instructor

Our client a prestige University, is looking for a chef Instructor to join their fantastic cooking school in the Blue Mountains.  The Chef Instructor is responsible for conducting practical training and supervision and provide feedback on student’s progress and assessments within the live kitchen environment. The students are to gain an understanding of the role of a chef within the kitchen brigade.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Ensure implemented policies and procedures related to the food and beverage department are followed
  • Plan and prepare menus in consultation with other kitchen staff
  • Assume responsibility for kitchen operations and students on weekends or other times when no other kitchen staff member is present
  • Ensure students, staff and other guests are provided with meals as required by the program and the needs of the business to the standards set
  • Attend weekly team meetings and other meetings as required
  • Undertake other duties as required by the Executive Chef
  • Understand and follow budgetary guidelines relevant to student numbers
  • Be actively involved in learning and teaching outcomes through quality delivery in all applied training areas, ensuring students benefit positively from their kitchen experience

Experience Required:
  • Strong previous industry experience in a commercial kitchen
  • Certificate III Commercial Cookery- Trade
  • Certificate IV Training and assessment is advantageous
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong communication skills written and verbal
  • Customer focused and able to deliver to a high level of service
  • Pro-active and highly motivated
  • Fluent in English (verbal and written)
  • Intermediate in MS office applications
