Communications Reporting Manager

As the Communications Reporting Manager you will be responsible for leading a small team delivering internal and external communications and reports for a range of stakeholders. Your team is responsible for developing, testing and rolling out the new participant pathway for this Federal Government organisation.

This is a fast-paced environment with a mix of proactive and reactive work. Your extensive experience in government relations will allow you to provide advice, updates and direction to others regarding the participant pathway and change management. You will be a strategic thinker who builds trust and respect and relishes the challenge of operating in a complex and dynamic environment.

Your excellent written and verbal communications skill will be complemented by sound judgement, resilience and integrity. Experience working within the Public Sector in a Reporting, or Governance team, will stand you in good stead to meet the requirements of this position.

Duties include:
  • Lead and manage a small team of communication and reporting professionals
  • Prepare reports and other Government communications that are appropriate and fit-for-purpose
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure their reporting and communication needs are understood and met
  • Lead and manage the development and implementation of communication activities
  • Manage competing priorities, following relevant processes, solving problems and tracking and recording progress against agreed deadlines, requirements and operational goals
Skills and Personal Attributes:
  • Supervision/coaching experience.
  • Ability to lead a multi-disciplinary team, including developing staff and managing performance, and adapt quickly to a changing environment
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to develop and maintain networks
  • Able to negotiate effectively by listening differing ideas and views to develop a clear understanding of the issues, and to present persuasive counter-arguments
  • Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information
  • Highly developed ability to synthesise and analyse complex information and make decisions.

  • Experience in communications, journalism or a related field is required, qualifications are desirable
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience working in Government Reporting and Communication is required.
