DevOps Engineer

Ignite is a current supplier of contract and permanent staff to the Utilities, Engineering, and Local Government sectors across Perth and Western Australia.
We are currently assisting one of our clients recruit a DevOps Engineer on a permanent basis.  They are a statewide organisation, with offices across WA.  This role is based permanently at their Bentley offices, with occasional travel across WA.

In terms of the role, you would be responsible for:
  • Lead the adoption of DevOps ways of working and the supporting automation frameworks and technologies
  • Be the design authority for Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment technologies and processes
  • Support the transition of infrastructure services to the Cloud (AWS)
  • Quality review changes to the infrastructure architecture, particularly hosting, storage, virtualization and automation technologies, ensuring performance, stability and capacity goals are met or exceeded while reducing the time-to-value for improvements
  • Champion the configuration, version control and change management approaches required to implement infrastructure as code, building in quality and helping to shift left
  • Mentoring and upskilling colleagues to help develop T-shaped skills
  • Perform root cause analysis for production errors and failures in integration and deployment processes
  • Develop, test and deploy scripts required to change infrastructure and to support application releases
  • Build trust and develop productive and lasting relationships with stakeholders by modelling our values and principles, and by delivering on commitments
We’re seeking candidates who have the below attributes:
  • 10 years’ experience in managing core infrastructure technologies
    • VMWare, Windows, Linux, storage, Cisco networking, etc.
  • 5 years’ experience implementing automation technologies for managing infrastructure changes, hosting updates and application releases through development, testing and deployment (Continuous Integration / Deployment)
  • Experience migrating infrastructure services to the Cloud (AWS)
  • Strong technical documentation skills (Visio, test acceptance criteria, etc.)
  • Very effective interpersonal skills including mentoring, coaching, collaborating, and team building
  • Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills with an ability to manage competing demands
  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge and understanding of adoption of DevOps, Agile and Lean ways of working in similar organisations
