Electronic Instrument Calibration Technician

Your New Position:

Reporting to the Maintenance and Engineering Manager, your primary purpose of the Electronic Instrument Calibration Technician is to calibrate and maintain various
instrumentation equipment such as electronic sensors, transducers, display and gauge equipment used in plant ventilation systems, manufacturing processes.

Adjust various critical plant and process equipment safety and alarm set points to operate within set specifications in accordance with traceable standards, specifications,
procedures whilst maintaining documentation. This work is performed in a highly regulated environment to ensure ongoing compliance with safety, regulatory and statutory requirements, including but not limited to
ARPANSA and TGA.

This is an extremely interesting role as your duties will be working across 5 x main business units within the broader division.


QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Tertiary qualification in Electronics and/or Instrumentation & Control, Electrical Certificate Qualification or relavent experience.
  • Significant instrument calibration experience providing calibration support in a highly regulated production environment.
  • Experience with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and knowledge of relevant and  pharmaceutical production regulations and legislation.
  • Experience within computerised maintenance management software systems preferably SAP Plant
  • Maintenance is an advantage.
  • Experience within Calibration software systems is an advantage.
  • Demonstrated experience with Calibration Hardware Equipment.
  • Experience with SCADA/PLC systems is an added advantage
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate to a wide audience including tradespeople, professionals, and management.
  • Pro-active, deadline driven, and reliable in following through with actions.
  • Strong time management, planning and organisational skills.
  • Able to research, interpret and apply relevant Australian Standards, to calibration work performed.
  • Strong customer service focus.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within, and promote, a strong safety culture.
  • Able to utilise basic Computer Microsoft Office suite programs such as Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.

Your Background
  • Electronics and/or Instrumentation & Control or Electrical trade qualified coupled with Calibration experience!
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar Calibration position - maintaining plant and equipment!
  • Exceptional communication skills both oral and written
  • A team member with can-do attitude
  • Deadline driven, proactive and possesses strong problem solving skills
  • Sector background exp. with a similar role ; Mining, Heavy industry, Chemical ,Manufacturing , Oil & Gas - any highly regulated environment
  • Australian Citizenship - essential

RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Complete calibration work and maintenance on instruments whilst maintaining the traceable integrity of the calibration in compliance with relevant Australian Standards and client quality management system procedures and instructions.
  • Ensure maintenance work is carried out to meet client requirements & safety rules, TGA and ARPANSA regulations, ISO AS/NZL 9001:2008 and ISO 14001, BMS, OHSE directives, procedures, standards and regulation and within budget in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Review and reorganise personal day-to-day work schedule and activities to manage conflicting priorities and meet stakeholder expectations
  • Ensure maintenance records (SAP database, work orders, records sheets, etc) are prepared and updated in a timely manner and that the supervisor is kept informed of progress of work
  • Establish quality working relationships and ongoing communication with clients.
  • Maintain accurate information and records, readily available for audit.
  • Perform all work related to radio pharmaceutical production in compliance with TGA requirements and applicable client procedures and instructions.
  • Review and identify opportunities to improve and ensure quality control and compliance including participating in internal and external audits.
  • Pro-actively contribute to a continuous improvement programs to enhance safety, quality and reliability of equipment to meet regulatory requirements and stakeholder and customer expectations in consultation with customers, TGA and ARPANSA.
  • Promote a strong safety culture which includes providing input to risk assessments and development of SWMES
  • Develop multiple skills by showing initiative and willingness to learn and train in other aspects of the work being carried out within the group.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the latest developments and best practice for the calibration of production plant and equipment and implement recommendations as identified.
  • Undertake additional duties within the group as priorities permit, and during absences of other staff.

KEY CHALLENGES:

  • Hours: Willingness to work extended and varied hours based on operational requirements 
  • After hours work may be required on a regular basis - overtime rates $$$
  • Weekend work may be required on a regular basis - time & half and double time $$$
  • Start and Finish times may vary depending on production requirements.
