Engineer - Heavy Vehicle

Reporting into the Principal Program Manager, Rolling Stock Heavy Overhauls Program, you will be coordinating engineering requirements, design, assurance, configuration, documents, and standards. You will ensure the program meets the engineering, passenger, safety and accessibility requirements within industry and engineering best practice. Coordinating cross-functionally with Rolling Stock Maintenance, Rolling Stock Engineering, Safety, Procurement, Supply Chain, Maximo system and Asset & Engineering Management.

Knowledge & Experience
  • Proven continuous and broad experience in a large engineering environment with a focus on systems, engineering, design and development, manufacturing/production, verification and validation and through life support
  • Proven experience in engineering design within a commercial heavy vehicle organisation in the transport environment or similar
  • Knowledge, experience and understanding of risk and safety in the workplace, within a transport environment and from an engineering perspective
  • Proven ability to develop and deliver quality documentation including technical specifications, Scopes of Works and Bills of Material
  • Proven ability to develop and deliver works instructions and task cards for the delivery of heavy maintenance activities
  • Strong focus on service quality and results including both safety and customer service
  • Financial acumen; sound communication skills; sound organisational skills
  • Works well under pressure with a proactive and positive attitude
Must have’s
  • Tertiary level Degree in Engineers (Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics / Mechatronics)
  • Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status with Engineers Australia or currently in process of obtaining or able to obtain
  • Must hold a current Victorian Drivers Licence
