Summary of Role
  • Extensive experience designing, developing and shipping software, as well as excellent communication and collaboration skills. Modern development skillsets also include cloud-based application development, serverless functions and distributed design patterns.
  • Have experience architecting and deploying applications both on-prem and on cloud platforms and have the necessary expertise to effectively integrate disparate services. As a mentor to junior and mid-tier developers, the Dev Lead has a solid understanding of application lifecycle management (ALM), architecture and testing. A Dev Lead ensures coded solutions are secure, reliable, scalable, and maintainable and align to architectural solutions and principles.
  • Own the design of functional features and negotiate the implementation to ensure the least impact or variation from determined patterns. Dev leads are expected to make decisions independently about technical debt and strategic impacts. Leaders in this role practice a high degree of discipline working to an agile methodology and apply this discipline to effectively translate requirements into actionable tasks for members of the development team. Dev Leads maintain a deep technical understanding of architecture, solutions, and development patterns and can lead discussions with senior executives, architects and business users.  
  • Assist with the design of applications that meet user requirements and specifications, in compliance with policies, practices and technologies.
  • Contribute to and lead agile planning, tasking and requirements gathering.
  • Contribute to the development of solution and systems architecture and ensure architecture is safeguarded throughout implementation.
  • Contribute to the support and design of build and release pipelines.
  • Provide expert advice to business analysist with regards to functionality.
  • Provide leadership regarding the development team’s process and practice.
  • Ensures quality of all code integrated into repositories through automated testing, unit tests and peer reviews.
