Internal Review Case Officer

The Internal Review Case Officer will work in a team alongside other case officers to review cases which have been logged by participants. 
You will work within a framework of legislation, established principles, work practices and procedures in accordance with our clients mission and business objectives to ‘build a national scheme.
The case officer will also handle complex and sensitive conversations and consider many factors that need to be balanced in order to understand how disability impacts on daily living.


 Undertake Agency facilitated training on the review process
 Receive s.100 requests (decisions relating to reasonable and necessary supports and whether or not to conduct a plan review)
 Apply legislation, operational guidelines and the clients policy to individual requests
 Apply principles of administrative law decision making in accordance with both primary and secondary sources, for example under the criteria for reasonable and necessary supports
 Collect further information by speaking directly with participants and their representatives.
 Communication with participants and their representatives
 Change the priority of the request (at any time as circumstances require)
 Undertake internal review – from contact with participant to drafting decision for delegate approval to implementation of decision by Local Area Coordinators or Regional Officers
 Obtain expert assistance and policy directions from internal stakeholders if required
 Exercise judgment in working with the clients staff throughout the process to ensure high quality decisions, assistance and recommendations

Skills and Personal Attributes:

 Positive contemporary attitudes to people with disability.
 Understanding and knowledge of disability and its impact on individuals.
 Experience with supporting people with a disability to maximise participation in community.

People of Government/Ombudsman background are highly desirable.
