Investigations Officer - Intermediate

About the Organisation
Our client is a Federal Government Agency under the portfolio of Revenue and Financial Services. Following the final report of the Black Economy Taskforce, our client is undertaking a broad range of compliance activities to address the behaviour of unprofessional or unethical stakeholders who are involved in black economy related activities.
About the Role:
As an investigations officer you will manage complaints, conduct risk assessments and lead investigations into the behaviour of tax practitioners whilst adhering to the Australian Government Investigation Standards and established policy and practices. Working independently, you will complete investigations utilising your intuition and exercising professional judgement to deliverer results within the legislated timeframes, policies and procedures.

Requirements to be Successful:
  • Experience managing complex case work and delivering compliance or investigations outcomes.
  • Ability to deliver investigation services including collecting evidence, providing instructions and briefings. Will also be capable appearing in court proceedings and be able to present cases persuasively to Magistrates in the appropriate statutory authority or tribunal.
  • Strong understanding of the Tax Agent Environment.
  • Ability to communicate with influence and liaise with stakeholders on complex and sensitive issues in a representation role.
  • Can document actions and decisions within case management systems and compile briefs of evidence in accordance with legislation, standards and procedural requirements.
  • Can think laterally and adopt a variety of case management strategies.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to maintain productive working relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Can deliver high quality outcomes, motivating themselves and their team to perform at high levels.
