Currently two full-time contract roles available with this Federal Government agency based in Geelong. Both are APS6 Senior level with contract end date 30/6/2020.

Marketing Officer

As a member of the marketing team, you will have an audience centred approach, founded on creating insight led behaviour change through relevant, timely, accessible, inclusive and useful marketing. You will support the development and delivery of market research projects, campaigns, brand and reputation management work, products and tools and channel optimisation projects. You will also have substantial experience in writing content for varied audiences and different formats and experience with producing communications publications.

Duties include:
  • Support market research efforts to build agency awareness about audience requirements, habits and trends
  • Assist with marketing activities by demonstrating expertise in campaigns, content development and optimisation, advertising and sponsorships
  • Liaise with external vendors to execute projects, campaigns and market research
  • Escalate identified reputational risks associated with marketing, sponsorship and brand activities
  • Collect and collate analytics to help colleagues interpret content performance and identify improvements
  • Undertake a wide variety of general and administrative tasks such as procurement, proof reading, product testing and inbox management. 
A tertiary qualification in public affairs, media or marketing, journalism, communications or public relations is desirable, or equivalent experience.

Communications Officer

As a Communications Officer you will be responsible for helping to manage the communication of the branch with a mix of proactive and reactive work. You will bring both operational and strategic judgment to help inform and build support for the agency and its' function with internal and external stakeholders. You will be an effective, strategic thinker who builds trust and respect and relishes the challenge of operating in a complex and changing environment. Your skills will be complemented by sound judgment, resilience and integrity.

Duties include:
  • Helping to manage and respond to communications enquiries including the development of communication plans
  • Providing strategic input to communications advice to support policies, programs and objectives across a range of mediums including online and face-to-face
  • Producing communications products, including media releases, talking points and presentations
  • Liaising with internal stakeholders to assist in ensuring their communications needs are understood and met
  • Managing competing priorities, following relevant processes, solving problems and tracking and recording progress against agreed deadlines
  • Promoting workplace practices consistent with agency policy and in accordance with APS values and leadership behaviours.
Experience in communications, journalism or a related field is required. Qualifications in these areas are desirable.

Entry Level checks will be required for all successful candidates and dependent on the role the appropriate working with children and/or vulnerable people checks may need to be undertaken as per State Legislation.
