Mechanical Project Engineer

Our client is a well-established and highly regarded metal fabricator and manufacturer with a very strong pipeline of work in the meat processing sector.

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to manage our diverse range of projects. The Mechanical Projects Engineer's primary role is to deliver on a range of projects with a strong focus on the meat and meat processing sectors. Core functions will include some 3D detail design engineering and project management activities. Project values and complexity will vary, but commonly exceed $1M.

This client facing role will be responsible for leading the delivery of projects from design and fabrication to installation and commissioning. A strong mechanical engineering or metal fabrication background with experience in the meat processing sector would be ideal. Proven project management capabilities are essential, in particular experience in delivering complex machinery builds and installations.
 
Key requirements:
  • 5 - 10+ years relevant industry experience, especially within meat or fresh food processing
  • Mechanical Engineering degree, Metal Fabrication trade or equivalent qualification.
  • Demonstrated project management experience (projects at least $1M)
  • Demonstrated mechanical engineering design capabilities, preferably for complex machinery builds
  • 3D CAD design or proven machinery fabrication and assembly skills
  • A leader who is comfortable talking to and advising the customer, our tradespeople and management team
Other requirements:
  • The ability to be a good communicator and foster relationships with clients and our supply chain
  • A valid Australian driver's licence
  • The ability and willingness to undertake travel to local, regional, interstate destinations
Remuneration package
An appropriate remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful applicant and commensurate with your skills and experience. At minimum remuneration will include salary, superannuation, with potential for a vehicle allowance and/or performance incentives.
