About the Company:
One of the Federal Government Department has an opportunity for a network technical writer to support the Network Segmentation Programmers technical document requirements.

About the role

Ideally the candidate will be well versed in Network design concepts and network transformation. Should have at least intermediate level of knowledge in Cisco Network and Palo Alto Firewall solutions as well as strong documentation creation skills. The Network technical writer will be working under the direction of the Project Design Authority (DA) and Project technical leads (TL).

About the Responsibilities:

  • As directed and supported by the DA and TL’s Document business and technical requirements, detailed designs, and operational hand over documents.
  • Produce Bill of Materials (BOM) for procurement of all Network hardware required, e.g., Data and Fibre Cables and add-ons, Media Convertors, Switches etc. in conjunctions with technical teams and leads
  • Plan, create, and maintain technical documentation covering product guides, policies, handbooks, and tutorials for an internal audience.
  • Collaborate with engineers, scientists, and non-technical stakeholders to enhance our technical documentation based on new requirements and feedback.
  • Edit, clarify, and proofread documentation written by non-writers and coach them on ways to improve their writing skills.
  • Build partnerships across the business to both identify areas where you can add value and to drive awareness of great documentation.
  • Contribute to our never-ending goal of continuous improvement by providing feedback and ideas on how we can improve our documentation.
  • Develop test plans and associated change documentation in support of Project implementation.
Skills and experience:

  •  3+ years of technical writing experience in an IT environment.
  • Should have excellent technical writing skills and have a track record of building an understanding of the technologies you have written about.
  • Should be familiar with computer science fundamentals and are comfortable reading Cisco Network scripting.
  • Could plan and prioritize effectively, organize tasks, and manage competing resources and demands.
  • Willingness and ability to work as part of a team with the drive and understanding to achieve the project objectives.
