Outage Manager - Collie, Western Australia

Ignite is a current supplier of contract and permanent staff to the Utilities, Engineering, and Local Government sectors across Perth and Western Australia.
We are partnered with a well-known Western Australian organisation and are assisting them with the recruitment of an Outage Manager. If you have experience managing power station outages from a senior level, and are seeking a new challenge this could be the role for you.
 
This is a contract position initially, and is based near the town of Collie, approximately 3 hours south of Perth.  As such, the successful candidate will be based in Collie for the role.  We do welcome applicants from across the state and nationwide to be considered for this position.  The company is offering a competitive hourly contract rate.
 
This is a crucial, high level position, within the power station and the company.  You’ll have around 6 to 8 direct reports, as well as all major contractors reporting into the role. 

You’ll of course be a leader in managing large scale power station outages, but also a leader in driving safety culture across the site, and an effective manager of people and performance.  You’ll be degree qualified in Engineering or a similar discipline and have significant career experience in this field. 
 
Some of your key responsibilities will include:
  • Developing annual business plan including budgets for major outages aligned to the Generation asset strategy.
  • Develop and deliver Major Maintenance Outage work scopes that are in accordance with the asset lifecycle plans for the Power Station assets.
  • Develop detailed plans, schedules, procedures and methods for outage maintenance activities as per the station outage plan.
  • Ensure that all maintenance is planned and scheduled in a manner which is safety focused maximising Generation’s commercial position, minimising costs, maximising maintenance quality and meets service delivery timeframes.
  • Ensure expenditure on maintenance programs is aligned to business plans and approved budgets.
  • Coordinate and provide specialist technical advice in the preparation and approval of designs, calculations, estimates, sketches, specifications, tenders, working drawings and schedules.
  • Ensure that all operational service contracts, including outsourced and “alliance” arrangements, are cost-effective, efficient and safe.
