Your New Position:
To deliver and support the implementation of policies and planning related actions that facilitate improved waste management practices for the City of Sydney community and meet the City’s waste strategy objectives and targets in line with Sustainable Sydney 2030 to ensure recovery opportunities are maximised through smart, innovative and sustainable design, operations and services.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required:

Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and/or extensive demonstrated relevant experience and knowledge in waste and resource recovery issues.
Sound project management skills and demonstrated experience in delivering, implementing and evaluating projects within time and budget that achieved measurable results.
Knowledge of waste management and resource recovery issues in the built environment and/or experience in planning, development, architecture, construction and/or waste industries.
Experience in engaging and partnering with residents, businesses, industry and other stakeholders on projects and providing appropriate support and technical advice.
Well-developed analytical, oral and written communication skills including written and verbal advice for internal and external stakeholders and drafting reports, plans and applications.
Ability to liaise, negotiate and effectively resolve conflicts and reconcile competing interests and excellent customer service skills and strength of character to deal effectively with difficult customers.
Hold a current NSW Drivers License
 
Your Core tasks include:
Assess waste management plans, complete waste referrals for development applications and other associated planning tasks to ensure new developments maximise resource recovery and are designed, constructed and operated in line with City policies and guidelines.
Plan, deliver and evaluate appropriate waste and resource recovery programs and planning processes, providing clear and concise reports and briefings as required.
Deliver high quality customer service on waste management issues and provide well-researched advice to key internal and external stakeholders on best practice waste management planning and related subjects.
In consultation with relevant stakeholders, assist with the set-up of new buildings with appropriate waste and recycling infrastructure including bins.
Assist with the review, development and implementation of the City’s waste policies, guidelines and other relevant documents in consultation with key stakeholders.
Follow procedures, process flows and provide regular communication and consultation with key stakeholders to ensure tasks are delivered efficiently and on time.

Ensure the achievement of results and deadlines within a fast-paced environment given that this will demand a high level of organisation and adaptability to ensure competing priorities are managed effectively.
