Policy Officer

The Role

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual with excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong research and analytical skills to coordinate and manage tasks including:
  • Assessing and advising on routine applications for approval under various financial services legislation;
  • Preparing meeting briefs, speeches and responses to Ministerial correspondence;
  • Preparing background briefs and coordinating policy roundtables;
  • Assisting with FOI requests for information; and
  • Establishing data collection systems.
The successful candidate will be a self-starter who can work with limited supervision and who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment with the ability to prioritise and juggle multiple tasks at once. The position will be based in the Financial System Division in a well known Federal Department in Sydney for six months and applications for both full-time and part-time (minimum three days) roles will be considered.

Position requirements
  • Minimum Baseline Security Clearance essential
  • Strong analytical and research skills, applying judgement, intelligence and common sense to that work
  • Demonstrated ability to produce high quality written reports and a high level of communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a workload with competing priorities and sometimes short timelines
  • High accuracy and attention to detail
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or work experience highly desirable
  • Understanding and application of the APS Values and the APS Employment Principles
