Reference Librarian

Contract opportunity for a qualified Librarian with good reference skills ideally in a legal library. 

Key accountabilities
  • Provide reference and research services to library users by personally responding to service requests across the various service points of the library.
  • Use knowledge to resolve local operational service problems and provide guidance to others.
  • Contribute to the successful operation of the library service by providing a positive customer experience for all users of the library service and assisting colleagues and managers in continuous improvement initiatives to meet organisational objectives.
  • Provide professional advice on behalf of the library on external and internal committees as appropriate.
  • Communicate professional advice to colleagues in client organisations to ensure timely resolution of issues.
  • Deliver legal research and digital literacy education and training to library users when they require assistance in the library.
  • Work on projects within the Law Library team, such as article indexing, judgment archiving.
Qualifications and technical expertise
  • Applied expertise in online research databases, MS Office, library management systems and content management systems.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Librarianship or a related discipline, and eligibility for Associate (professional) membership of the Australian Library Information Association are desirable.
