Research Project Officer

Our client is seeking for a Research Project Officer. You will initially support the Director and Assistant Director in development of the new program and subsequently support the delivery of research and evaluation projects and work programs that have strategic, political and operational significance to our client.
The recently-established research function forms part of the Strategic Advice, Research and Inclusion Division responsible for providing technical leadership, strategic advice and content expertise towards the management of key strategic issues for the Agency. The Division contributes to long-term plans and operational strategies aimed at achieving the Agency’s mission to ‘build a world-leading national Scheme”.
The Research Project Officer will provide support in a range of areas including:
  • Development and deployment of a dedicated research and evaluation capability across the Agency
  • Enhancing the Scheme’s use of evidence-informed practice in delivering outcomes for participants, carers and family members;
  • Shaping and maintaining the Agency’s relationships and partnerships with external research bodies, including specialist agencies and relevant academic and technical experts, to ensure that the wider disability research community is effectively engaged to deliver benefits for the Scheme and for people with a disability across Australia;
  • Building the Agency’s approach to innovation in delivering practice improvements and contemporary services and supports, to improve outcomes for participants and deliver a sustainable Scheme.
Examples of activities to be supported include:
  • Literature reviews
  • Preparation and implementation of surveys, data collection and analysis
  • Preparation of ethics applications
  • Preparation of reports, journal articles and conference presentations
  • Development and maintenance of spreadsheets and databases
  • Correspondence with internal and external stakeholders
  • Organising meetings, preparing agendas and documenting minutes
  • Development of processes and protocols for the research program
  • Management of quality assurance activities within the research program
Essential Skills and Experience:
  • Skills and personal attributes as noted above
  • Relevant degree from a recognised university and appropriate post-graduate qualifications or equivalent research experience
  • Experience in undertaking literature reviews using online research databases and high-level skills in use of reference management software
  • Experience in writing reports and academic publications
  • Demonstrated high-level planning and organisational skills, ability to prioritise and set and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated awareness of the principles of confidentiality, privacy and information handling
