Sales Representative - Construction

Due to expansion and success over the last few years my client is seeking to hirer an experienced  Sales Rep / Account Manager for a Sydney based Territory from Parramatta to & including the Northern Suburbs salary will be depending on experience. 

This is a hunter role and an experienced Sales rep from a construction based sector is required. 



  • taking ownership for the growth of the business
  • managing a portfolio of existing customers
  • developing additional business through existing and new customers.
  • involvement in, and project managing,  the design, development,  and commercialisation  of new products into the companies range
  • identifying opportunities for growth
  • assisting the NSW Sales Manager as required


  • Secondary            HSC or equivalent
  • Tertiary                Tertiary qualifications in Business, Marketing, Engineering or other qualifications in a business related discipline would also be highly regarded.
  • Professional          An advantage but not essential
  • Licences               Full Driver's licence (Car) - Australian 

  • Pro actively chase and develop new accounts and business
  • Sell company Products in the markets determined in consultation with the Supervisor
  • Generate leads through existing clients or while cold calling.
  • Improve market share by identifying areas that Company can expand into and areas of expansion within existing industries.
  • Generate, organise and present group presentations to consultants and decision makers in various fields of engineering and project management.
  • Handle technical enquiries and complaints of varying degrees.
  • Represent Company at exhibitions, trade shows as and when required.
  • Be able to read plans and drawings
  • Effectively communicate with customer, builders and building professionals on all levels.
  • Comply with reporting procedures of the Company
  • Prepare and present individual weekly sales report which is to incorporate your daily activities to inform the company who and why you meet with your contacts. Refer to standard reporting format. This is required for accountability purposes.
  • Identify new targets using BCI, Bid Contender and other publications
  • Work closely with the other staff members, share ideas, suggestions
  • Attend and participate in sales meetings
  • Develop strong relationships with Architects, Engineers and Specifiers with view to promoting and or specifying Products in their plans
  • In line with the Division's strategic focus, pro actively, identify opportunities  for continuous improvement
  • Achieve predetermined budget objectives for both existing and new business
  • As project manager, assume complete responsibility for that project's:
    • control and timing
    • financial and commercial soundness
    • quality and procedural accuracy
    • inter-department communications
  • Provide support to other managers and teams by assisting in areas of experience or expertise to enable fulfillment of their responsibilities
  • Carry out quality system responsibilities  as defined in the quality manual and quality procedures
  • Incorporate  the concepts central to Total Quality Management and ISO 9001-2008, when developing proposals or procedures
  • Develop a proactive and continual improvement process with accounts in the portfolio by identifying all service and cost leverage opportunities that improve service/value for the customer beyond customer expectation.  
  • Ensure effective implementation of these strategies respecting both the needs of the customer and Divisional capability to deliver at acceptable margins.


  • Technical understanding of the building code and construction industry, AS3600
  • Technical understanding of company's products
  • Ability to manage projects
  • Ability to read plans and technical drawings, and actively discuss same
  • Appreciation and understanding of Financial Modelling
  • Skills in and ability to prepare professional reports and presentations
  • Strong service orientation and related skills
  • Strong negotiation skills with an eye for detail.
