Senior Internal Auditor

This position sits within the Internal Audit Division which forms part of the independent assurance function and activities. The Internal Auditor will work as part of a team and undertake assurance and advisory engagements.
 
You will be responsible for assisting with the delivery of the Internal Audit Plan, as part of the Internal Audit Division. This will include undertaking a range of duties that focus on identifying, independently assessing and recommending appropriate action plans to remediate control gaps.
 
You will be part of a high performing team, undertaking a multi-faceted role which requires strong communication and research skills, and a strong focus on analysis of comprehensive data related to complex internal audits under limited guidance.
 
Duties
  • Develop work programs for assessments
  • Liaise with a variety of internal and external stakeholders on auditing matters
  • Develop process flowcharts to support the understanding of key processes and controls associated with the assurance engagements
  • Develop risk and control matrices to support assurance activities and findings
  • Undertake assurance assessment (testing) activities
  • Collect and examine evidence against agreed engagement criteria
  • Make observations in relation to the evidence, linked to the assessment objectives, and assist with wording of audit findings and recommendations to improve internal controls
  • Deliver assurance assessments (testing) that meet objectives, in accordance with internal audit methodology
  • Contribute to the development of executive reporting which outlines findings and observations, through the preparation of internal audit reports
  • Identify and support opportunities to enhance the assessment process
  • Auditing compliance with relevant legislation including the Public Governance, Performance & Accountability Act.
 
Skills, Attribute and Experience
  • The successful applicant should have a demonstrated capacity to develop and maintain productive working relationships with others and have a track record in working collaboratively with other agencies
  • You will have a strong strategic focus and experience in working across the broad range of auditing activities
  • You will need to be able to adapt quickly to a changing environment, responding to and prioritising competing and often urgent requests
  • Experience in creating accurate and concise documents of work undertaken, discussions held and results obtained
  • Competency with IT software and systems including customer relationship management (CRM).
 
Entry Level checks will be required for all successful candidates and dependent on the role the appropriate working with children and/or vulnerable people checks may need to be undertaken as per State Legislation.
