Senior Media Advisor

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Media Advisor for a local government organisation to develop design and deliver effective communications strategies and campaigns.
 
 
Are you available immediately Full-Time for next 6 months?
 
Reporting to the Senior Coordinator Communications and Engagement, key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
 
  • Research, write, and edit Council publications and other communications material
  • Provide high level strategic advice and support to the Mayor and Councillors
  • Respond to media enquiries
  • Prepare media releases and facilitate media launches
  • Respond to social media enquiries
  • Write Mayor and Councillor speeches
  • Attend Council meetings, council events (as required) and be available after-hours as required by the Senior Coordinator
 
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Experience in media and stakeholder engagement within a government environment
  • Experience designing, delivering, and evaluating effective communications strategies, plans and campaigns.
  • Exceptional writing skills and Strong project management skills
  • Experience is managing complex issues in a large organisation or in a political context.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with and proven ability to develop effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
 
Qualifications and Experience:
  • A tertiary qualification in communications, marketing, journalism or a related discipline or extensive experience in a similar role.
  • Please note: a valid Working with Children Check will be required
