Senior Project Manager

Join a collaborative team and Join a leading council on 6 month contract basis, the core objective of this position is to project manage the delivery of the ‘Liveable City Strategy’, (LCS) council’s framework as well as assist with other strategic projects. 

Service Delivery

• Coordinate across departments, ensuring innovative and sustainable initiatives and opportunities are embedded within the LCS and other Council projects requiring input.
• Engage and consult with the community and key stakeholders to gain an understanding of their needs to be addressed in the LCS
• Assist with the review of the Doncaster Hill Strategy review with the overlaps in the LCS
• Manage the services of the lead consultant and ensure alignment with the project brief  Lead a service culture of excellence, collaboration and accountability.
• Be accountable for the quality and timely delivery of the LCS with the assistance of the coordinator and manager

Systems and process

• Undertake and work within the unit’s project management frameworks.
• Design and implement work systems and practices that are responsive, flexible and financially sustainable.
• Supervise projects and activities in an integrated way to support organisational wide performance.
• Manage consultant performance and payments


• Collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders to achieve multiple and mutually beneficial outcomes.
• Assist in motivating a team, operate in a team context and deliver project objectives.
• Develop and build strong foundations and partnerships critical to the council's success.

The successful candidate will have exhibit the following skills and attributes

Tertiary qualified in project management, urban design, strategic planning, or other relevant field and minimum of five years relevant work experience in project management.

• Experience in preparing or managing the preparation of urban design frameworks, structure plans or similar strategic documents.
• Highly developed project management and budgeting skills.
• Demonstrated high level of written and oral communication skills.
• A problem solver, able to resolve complex issues to meet the needs of internal and external stakeholders.
• A negotiator, able to influence outcomes to achieve organisational objectives.
• Well-developed integrated planning skills to deliver outcomes for our community.
• High level analytical and investigative skills.
• Demonstrated significant project management experience.
• Experience with a range of specialist design based computer programs.
• Demonstrated experience and involvement in multi-disciplinary planning and design projects.
• Knowledgeable in government, and local government organisations.
• Demonstrated ability to work with internal and external stakeholders.
