Position Purpose
A Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) is a technical expert with a focus on the development and support of observability and resolution of incidents or problems affecting reliability across the agency. Observability consists of providing enterprise dashboarding of data, alerting procedures via automated schemas, predictive and long-term forecasting analytics and also self-healing triggers into a various range of cloud applications and services.
 
A SRE is first to the ball when required to provide assistance for an incident or problem, The SRE will then provide insight to an issue for enabling a faster resolution.
 
This role requires rostered shifts for morning, evening coverage and on-call work is required.
 
Duties
  • Resolution of incidents and problems affecting service reliability across the agency.
  • Implementing monitoring solutions from ingestion of data, monitoring dashboards and alert logic for a various range of applications and services.
  • Foster a positive culture within the team aligned with Agency values.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Supporting the agency with verification and diagnostic assistance for major incident response including solution implementation and design towards self-healing, predicative analytics, and automatic alerting procedures.
 
Essential Criteria
  1. Demonstrated experience in working with monitoring systems.
  2. Experience working in Government or providing services to Government agency
  3. Due to the core business of the Client, all staff must display a positive, contemporary attitude to people with disability.
  4. Demonstrate experience with data and log analytics process and workflow.
  5. Ability to script/code. Demonstrate ability to learn new languages if required.
 
Desirable Criteria
  1. Demonstrated minimum 5 years’ working in an operational environment through ICT management frameworks such as ITIL.
  2. Demonstrated experience working as a Site Reliability Engineer.
  3. Demonstrated experience operating in a multi-cloud environment (Azure, AWS etc.)
 
You must be an Australian Citizen to be considered for this role due to federal government security regulations. Working from home/ flex arrangements are considered on a case-to-case basis.
