Turbomachinery Field Service Engineer | John Crane Australia

Ignite is proud to be the recruitment partner of John Crane Australia, an international Engineering organisation who specialise in mechanical seals, filtration, power transmission couplings, gasket products, dry gas seals and system design.  JCA are part of the Smiths Group, who have been operating for over 100 years worldwide. They are seeking a Turbomachinery Field Service Engineer to join their Perth offices.

This Turbomachinery Field Service Engineer position is a permanent, full time staff position, therefore you can secure your long term career with a market leader in their field.

The role is a mix of both Perth based work, and site-based work, however it’s not a FIFO role in the typical sense.  The site-based component can be anywhere from 4 to 8 months in a year, depending on client requirements.  Realistically you could expect to spend a 50/50 split between Perth and sites, with approximately 1 month stints away at a time.  When you are working away, JCA will offer you site and offshore allowances, which will increase your overall earnings per annum.

As the new Turbomachinery Field Service Engineer you will be reporting to the Field Service Manager of the Turbomachinery Solutions Group.  The primary purpose of the role is to provide service and site assistance on Turbomachinery Products, supporting compressor manufactures and end user customers.   Some of your key responsibilities will include:
  • Onsite Dry Gas Seal removal, strip, inspection, rebuild and installation in to Turbo compressors.
  • To ensure service visits are executed on time, to quality (HSE) standards and customer expectations.
  • To create comprehensive customer reports outlining all site activities including, observations, recommendations and actions.
  • Identify and assist customers with upgrades of all Turbomachinery products.
  • To support all Turbomachinery activities such as wet to gas retrofit measurement and installations.
  • To act as liaison with the Reliability Group for seal related issues whilst on site.
  • Other similar duties, which will be discussed further at interview.
You’ll be required to work autonomously at times, especially given the site travel component, however you’ll also have the support of a close-knit Perth office who will welcome you into the team.

We are seeking candidates with a combination of both technical experience in Turbomachinery, but also an exceptional commitment to meeting customer requirements.  You’ll also have the following skills and abilities:
  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Trade qualifications or equivalent work experience in a similar capacity
  • A minimum of 3 years in a technical service capacity within a mechanical engineering or similar sector
  • Basic knowledge of instrumentation
  • Direct experience working with rotating equipment in a similar role
  • Knowledge and experience inspecting, building and testing gas seals and associated products
  • Current Drivers Licence and Passport
On offer is a competitive salary package including site allowances and annual company bonus eligibility.

This position is available to commence immediately, with shortlisting and interviews to commence now.
